Obituary

George E. Zeis, Jr., 84, of Mercersburg, died February 27, 2020 at the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA.
Born July 9, 1935 at Ft. Loudon, PA he was a son of the late George E. and Eliza (Kaetzel) Zeis, Sr.
George was employed for 16 years at the Mercersburg Academy. He was employed at Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, from 1973 until his retirement in 1998.
He enjoyed hunting, collecting Hess trucks, the outdoors, and cook outs. His favorite places to eat were 30 West, Wendy's, and Burger King.
Surviving family include his wife, Evelyn L. (Roland) Zeis whom he married in 1958. A son, Jeffrey A. and wife Sharyn Zeis. Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Three sisters, Esther Graham, Orrstown, Verna Youse, Mercersburg, and Helen Sipes, Chambersburg. Four brothers, Roy Zeis, John "Hank" Zeis, and Howard Zeis all of Mercersburg, and Daniel Zeis, Chambersburg. He was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Hamilton.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday March 6, 2020 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, with Reverend Marlene Shepherd officiating. Burial will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Viewing 6 to 8 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
