Obituary

Harlan Harry Peck, 69, Mercersburg, passed away December 28, 2018 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA after battling cancer for nearly two months.
Born on April 2, 1949 in Mercersburg, PA, and resided in the Mercersburg area throughout his life. He was a 1968 graduate of James Buchanan High School where he played soccer and ran track. Harlan enlisted in the U.S. Army during his senior year, after being drafted, and served until 1971. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired after 20 years of military service as a Non-Commissioned Officer with the rank of E-6. Harlan also retired from Letterkenny Army Depot after 30 years of service. After his retirement from Letterkenny, Harlan worked at Mason Dixon Auto Auction until the time of his death.
Harlan enjoyed his beloved grandchildren, his Christmas Tree Farm, hunting, tractors, and attending auctions. Surviving family include two sons, Shane H. Peck (Tina) of Mercersburg, PA, and Shawn M. (Diane) Peck of Shippensburg, PA, and four grandchildren, Isaiah Peck, Willow Peck, Ashton Peck, and Oakley Peck. Six siblings, Ronnie and Marla Peck both of Mercersburg, Gary Peck of McConnellsburg, Karen Shannon of Chambersburg, Dennis Peck of Myerstown, and Jerle Peters of St. Thomas. Harlan was preceded in death by his father Roy Peck Sr. and mother Marden (Schooley) Peck and two brothers Roy Peck Jr. and Leslie Peck.
Harlan’s Christian faith was forged in childhood by his mother and church attendance. We can be confident that he is with the Lord because he professed Christ prior to his death. Harlan will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 31,2018 at 1:00 PM at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Mercersburg, PA. Reverend Shawn Peck will be officiating. There will be no viewing, however the family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA.
