Obituary

Mildred I. Unger, 92, of Newburg, PA, died October 10, 2020, at her home.
Born December 18, 1927, at Gettysburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Preston D. and Hazel A. (Himes) Smith.
Mildred was a homemaker. She loved life, her family, flowers, and birds. She made beautiful quilts.
Surviving family include 8 daughters, Virginia "Jenny" Piper of Shade Gap, PA, Donna (Walter) Dague of Newburg, Holly Smith of Waynesboro, PA, Diane (George) Middlekauff of Shippenbsburg, PA, Roberta (Gene) Stambaugh of New Oxford, PA, Debra Gress of Shade Gap, PA, Laurel Gordon of Batson, TX, Barbara Batley of Hagerstown, MD 3 sons, Merle Unger, Jr., of Cumberland, MD, David Unger of Chambersburg, PA., Joseph (Lorraine) Unger of Frederick, MD. 29 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, 1 great great great grandchild, a brother, Kenneth Smith of Little Rock, AK, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Merle W. Unger, Sr., who died November 8, 1992, a son, Nicholas Unger who died in 2016, 3 sisters, a brother, and 4 grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Thursday October 15, 2020, at Stone Church Cemetery of Little Cove, PA, with Reverend Gary Hubble officiating.
Viewing one hour prior to the graveside service Thursday at the cemetery.
Arrangements by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg.
